Copacabana Beach
Unfortunately, the day I went to visit Copacabana Beach, only two or three Metro stops from Botafogo, it was overcast and a weekday. So, not a hell of a lot going on there. Afternoon it warmed up a little and the sky was a tad friendlier and a few more people came out. Still, I was told, this was just a shadow of what it was like during the tourist season. Here we see the famed sidewalk pattern that we will see again featured during the 2016 summer Olympic Games. |
Crappy weather or not, I was here, now, and had to make the best of it. So I went and wandered all the way to almost the end of this beach. |
There you'll find the large coastal defense position named Fort Copacabana. |
By the time I got to the far end, the sun started peeking through, here and there, and magically people appeared, not many, but enough to make this a little more entertaining visit. |
In that direction, back toward Botafogo, you can see the Sugarloaf Mountain, so you can see, this beach is not all that far from there. |
It was as if everyone was just hanging around waiting to expode onto the beach. Especially the muscled up guys, who get validation from being seen. I don't mean the crack guy. And of course the beach bunnies, old and young, showed off what they had. Not that there's anything wrong with that. |
